What is the AAAM?

American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine - AAAM

The AAAM was founded for, and is dedicated to, the teaching of aesthetic medical science techniques and procedures to licensed physicians who have an interest in expanding the aesthetic medical facet of their clinical practice. It provides training that enhances aesthetic medical practice, no matter what other specialty training a physician may possess. Membership, therefore, is open to a variety of practitioners who are linked, by their common interests, in aesthetic medicine. These professionals include but are not limited to dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, endocrinologists, family practitioners, phlebologists, cosmetic dentists, ophthalmologists and ENT specialists.

The mission and goal of the AAAM is to provide quality education for the development of clinical skills in aesthetic medicine. Faculty members are always acknowledged experts, well known to the international community and executive committee of the International Union of Aesthetic Medicine. Meetings, symposia and congresses focus on a wide range of topics including anti-aging medicine, bariatric/obesity management and surgery, cosmetic dentistry, laser procedures and resurfacing, Botulinum Toxin (Botox) treatment, filling materials, peeling techniques, cosmetic surgery, phlebology and sclerotherapy, aesthetic medical ethics, malpractice awareness and prevention, and business techniques to enhance aesthetic medical practice productivity. AAAM sponsored trainings, symposia, workshops and congresses provide participants with the latest clinical knowledge available, presented by experts on the cutting edge of their special interest. Congresses and symposia are also an important venue for meeting exhibitors who manufacture or distribute aesthetic medical technologies, pharmaceutical and products.

Membership in the AAAM carries with it several advantages and privileges. Members are the first to learn about upcoming AAAM trainings and receive priority registration as well as substantial discounts. Members are kept in the loop of information exchanges between 29 national societies and are the first to learn about limited-space-availabity clinical workshops. AAAM members, for instance, are the first to learn about trainings that focus on basic and advanced clinical workshops held at several venues throught North, Central and South America, Middle East and all over Asia Pacific.
