About the Association
From the President
The American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) became, in 2001, the 15th national, member of the International Union of Aesthetic Medicine (UIME). As a founding member and its first president, I bring to the AAAM more than 25 years of experience in the clinical practice of Aesthetic Medicine. My initial clinical practice of Aesthetic Medicine began in Brussels, Belgium. I have more recently expanded this practice to Spain and Gibraltar in addition to Brussels. My home and personal residence, however, is now in Tustin, California. Although this makes my clinical practice somewhat non-traditional, it opens new doors and vistas to teaching in the Americas. A few comments about my long association with organized aesthetic medical societies will help new members to better understand my commitment and passion to the aesthetic medicine movement. Several years ago I was a founding member and president of the Belgian Society of Aesthetic Medicine. Later, I became president of the UIME and currently serve on the Executive Board as an honorary president and CME Director. Attending the UIME International Congress, which takes place every two years, brings a wide range of faculty and professionals together to exchange ideas and share expertise. Information shared represents the leading edge of aesthetic medicine around the world. Annual conferences and congresses are usually somewhat smaller and represent the national or regional highlights of aesthetic medicine. Both types of opportunities are important for the proficient aesthetic medical physician. As president of the AAAM I will always, to the best of my abilities, keep you informed about aesthetic medical advances and cutting edge conferences and trainings. If it's happening and important, you will be the first to know! You will also be kept aware of important trade shows and training venues, including conferences and workshops in specialty areas of aesthetic medicine. Visit the AAAM web site often for training opportunities and breaking news. The AAAM is here to serve you. Keep in touch and let me hear from you about your interests and concerns. |
