U.I.M.E.

The UIME (International Association of Aesthetic Medicine // Union Internationale de Médecine Esthétique) was created 25 years ago in France by representatives of four European countries (Belgium, France, Italy and Spain). The UIME was created in response to the blooming of a new specialty within the medical world: aesthetic medicine.

The goal was to gather any practitioner who had a desire to focus on aesthetic medicine, regardless of their specialty. Both family practitioners and specialists were targeted.

This concept became very attractive to a growing number of physicians. More countries from Western Europe soon joined the UIME followed by several Latin American countries and the United States. The opening of Eastern Europe to the world also added to the number of member nations. Today, twenty countries from all over the world are members of the UIME.

The UIME holds an international congress every other year and the AAAM (American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine) has been selected by the UIME's executive committee to hold the XIVth International Congress of Aesthetic Medicine in Las Vegas, November 9-12, 2003.
